ABOUT AMERIGEO
AmeriGEO Week is an inclusive event that brings together diverse communities and fosters connections, encouraging collaboration across national, regional, and international efforts in integrated research on Social Sciences and Earth. These collaborations aim to combine Earth observation data, socioeconomic information, scientific research, citizen observations, ancestral knowledge, and other sources of information with modeling, data prediction and scenario analysis to inform decision-making.
Through these collaborations, AmeriGEO seeks to promote information sharing across all levels and sectors, thereby improving capacities and empowering society to address environmental, social, and economic challenges.

Professionals, academia, government institutions, the productive sector, national and international organizations, and the general public interested in innovation and collaboration around Earth observation data.

Bogotá – Colombia
- Bogotá is located in the center of Colombia and is the nation’s capital.
- It sits at 2,625 meters (8,612 feet) above sea level in the Andes Mountains, making it the third-highest capital city in South America, after Quito (Ecuador) and Sucre (Bolivia).
- The city extends 33 km from south to north and 16 km from east to west.
- Bogotá is a diverse and multicultural city—a meeting point for people from all regions of the country.
- Due to its location in Colombia’s Eastern Andes, in the Andean zone of the country, Bogotá has a cold and very dry mountain climate.
- It serves as the political, economic, administrative, industrial, artistic, cultural, sports, and tourism hub of Colombia.
- Bogotá is also known for being the third most traffic-congested city in the region and ranks 19th worldwide. It is recommended to allow extra time when traveling within the city.
